State Archeological Museum
A visit to the Andhra Pradesh State Museum is a delight for art
lovers. Located in the picturesque Public Gardens, the museum boasts of
one of the richest repositories of antiques and art objects in the
country. Built in 1928 by the Nizam VII, the museum building itself is a
fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture.
The museum contains a Buddhist gallery, Brahmanical & Jain gallery, Bronze
gallery, Arms & Armour gallery, Numismatics gallery, Ajanta gallery and
more. Adjacent to the State Museum is the Contemporary Art Museum.
Timings: 10:30am to 5pm
Nagarjuna Konda Museum
The finds of Nagarjuna valley are housed in a museum specially
designed in the model of Buddhist Vihara. The museum presents relics from
the excavations of all phases of Nagarjuna Konda from its inception. They
represent the pre-historic, proto historic phases of the whole region.
A goog number of Buddhist antiquities including stone image of the Buddha,
Panels carved with Jataka tales and insciptions are on display.
Salarjung Museum
Salarjung Museum - is one of Hyderabad's prime attractions as
it is the world's largest one-man collection. The 35 rooms of the museum
house around 35,000 exhibits. These include unusual collections of jade,
marble statues, rare manuscripts, Persian miniature paintings, Chinese
porcelain and other objects d'art. The credit for this invaluable
collection goes to Mir Yusaf Ali Khan Salar Jung the 3rd Prime Minister of
the Nizam.
