Kanaka Durga Temple
This is the temple of Sri Kanaka Durga situated on the indrakila hill
which attracts lots of visitors. It is said that Adi Sankara visited this
temple and installed Sri Chakra. Goddess Durga killed the demon Durgam on
the request of the other Gods,. At that time she has been described as in
the golden color. So the Gods called her as Kanaka Durga. Chanting of
mantras and devotional music euphonies the air in the mornings creating a
serene atmosphere.
Timings: From 5:30 in the morning till 12:00 in the noon and reopens in
the evening at 4:00 and get closed again at 8:00 pm.
Bhadrachalam Temple
This pilgrim centre is known for the temple of Sita Ramachandra. The
Godavari river flows here quietly but gracefully. The uniqueness of the
temple is that the idol of Lord Rama has a bow in one hand along with
Shanku and Chakra, amalgamation of two avatars - Vishnu and Rama.
Timings: Open from 5:30 am till 12:00 in the noon and reopens at 4:00 in
the evening and again closed at 8:00 pm.
Tirupati
Tirupati, at the foothills of tirumala, is the abode of the Lord
Venkateswara one of the most venerated shrines in India. One of the oldest
temples, it was patronised by Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas and Vijayanagara
kings. This place is also mentioned is the Sastras, puranas and the
Sthalamahattyas. The range of the Tirumala hills, according to the Puranas,
srisailam. To reach Srisailam it take around five hours from Hyderabad is
a silent valley. Situated in the middle of thick forest and dense hills,.
the place is good for a short holiday. The Srisailam temple is also the
seat of Mahakali in the form of Bhramaramba. It is said the Vrishabha, the
sacred bull of Lord Shiva performed penance here.
Mantralayam Temple
This is the "jeevan
samadhi of Mantralyam Saint Raghavendraswamy. A large number of followers
and devotees of all religious sects throng this little town located on the
banks of river Tungabhadra all through the year. A temple has been
constructed at the spot where he performed penance known as the
Panchamukhi Anjaneyaswamy temple.
Timings: Open from 5:30 am till 12:00 in the noon and reopens at 4:00 pm
and again closed at 8:00 pm. Malleshwar Temple
Shri Malleshwar Swami, with his consort, Shri Bramaramba are the main
deities of the temple at Sivalayam, in Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The
temple was constructed in the 10th century, in the Dwapar Yuga, the time
contemporary to Lord Krishna. The lingam was installed by the Sri
Yudhistra, the eldest of the Five Pandavas. The Dasara festival in the
month of October is celebrated in a grand manner. The Sivarathri night is
also celebrated with the same fervor
Narasimha Temple
This is located at a distance of 74 km from Nandyal and 360 km from
Hyderabad . It is an important pilgrim centre having nine forms of Lord
Narsimham .The lower Ahobilam temple is built in the Vijayanagar style and
as one treks up the hill It is considered sacred because Lord Vishnu
appeared as Narasimha at this spot to kill Hiranaya Kashipu. Ahobilam is
also the seat of the Ahobala Matt. Cuddapah is another access point to
Ahobilam.
Timings: Open from 5:30 am till 12:00 in the noon and reopens in the
evening at 4:00 pm and again closed at 8:00 pm. Dwaraka Tirumala Temple
The temple was constructed the Myalavaram Zamindars between the years 1877
and 1902.This pilgrimage centre is called Dwaraka Tirumala after the great
saint, "Dwaraka" who located the self manifested idol of Lord Sri
Venkateswara.
Timings: Open from 5:30 am till 12:00 in the noon reopens at 4:00 pm and
again get closed at 8:00 pm.
Kolanpuka
This temple is famous as the jain temple of Mahavira , 2000 years old,
having 1.5 meters high image of Mahavira.Kolanupaka became the second
capital of the Kalyani Chalukyas in the 11th century. The memorial stones
have been preserved well for the last thousand years by the people.
Besides the famous Jain temple, you can also find here the Shri
Veeranarayana temple and the Shri Someshwara temple and the Kolanupaka
site museum.
