.Straight down the road
from Rashtrapati Bhavan is India Gate which is primarily a memorial to
unknown soldier.It was originally called All India War Memorial in
memory of the 90,000 Soldiers of the Indian Army who died in World War
I. |

Red Fort
 |
Red Fort is laid outalong the river Yamuna as an
irregular octagon , surrounded by a wall of about 2.4 km in
circumference and is built of red sandstone.

Kutubminar
|
This magnificent structure in the southern part of the
capital was built by a Muslim King , Qutub-ud-din Aibak in 1199 A.D. A
part of it which he could not finish was completed by another Muslim
King Iltutmish. Minar is 72.5 m high and has as its base a mosque. |

Birla Mandir |
Near to Connaught Place, this garish moderntemple was
erected by the industrialist B.D. Birla in 1938. It is dedicated to
Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and good fortune, and is commonly
known as Birla Mandir or Lakshmi Narayan Temple.

Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory with
masonary instruments, built in 1724 by Jai Singh, the mathematician and
astronomer king. The Samrat and Yantra supreme instrument, the largest
structure shaped like a right-angled triangle, is actually a huge
sun-dial; the other five instruments are intented to show the movements
of the sun, moon etc. |
