Introduction 
A thikana of Jodhpur, Khimsar is beautifully
located in the middle of a small village, just off the Jodhpur-Bikaner highway.
In the far distance are sand dunes that shelter fields where black buck can be
spotted grazing. Established in the 15th century by a scion of the house of
Jodhpur, it's history is a mixed one, reflected in the acthitecture of it's
fortified castle
History
Khimsar with its long forgotten but dramatic history, is not far from Jodhpur.
Over the centuries it was besieged five times - the last being a siege by an
army from Jodhpur as recently as April 4 1944. Khimsar serves as a wonderful
base for visits to the Bishnoi villages and for wildlife safaris.
