Best things to do at Andaman Island

The Andaman Islands is the most famous and popular tourist destination. The charm of this place attracts tourists from all over the world. This place is popularly known for its beautiful beaches, underwater sports, and many other things. There are about 572 in this area and only 36 are open for tourists. Here in this blog, I will tell you some best things which you should not miss when visiting Andaman and Nicobar Island.

1. Visit the museum:

While on one side, this place gives you the experience of water sports and beautiful beaches, on the other side it also surprises you with some of its museums. There are some museums in Andaman and Nicobar Island which will surprise you and give you an unforgettable experience.

a) Forest Museum:  There is a museum named Forest museum which attracts tourists who visit this beautiful island. This museum is famous for its flora, woodwork, etc. There is a zoological garden which makes this museum a must-visit place.

b) Samudrika Marine Museum: This museum is located in Port Blair and is a well-known tourist attraction among the people who want to visit this amazing place. The other name of this museum is the Fisheries Museum. This place has a huge collection of plants, animals, and marine life. The museum is located at a short distance of 9 km from the center of Port Blair.

2. Enjoy bird watching:

If you are a bird lover and want to see different species of birds, then Andaman has also a place for you in its treasure. This place is known as “Chidiya Tapu village”. There are many alluring birds which you can see while having a visit to this wonderful place.

You can capture the pictures of these beautiful species or if you love to spend some peaceful time while listening to the chirping of the birds, then I must say that you will be in a perfect place.

3. Water Sports:

If you visit an island and haven’t enjoyed some water sports, then your visit is not worth it. These islands offer you so many adventurous sports which you can enjoy like Scuba diving, Underwater Sea Walking, Parasailing, Jet Skiing, Snorkeling, and many more.

These adventurous sports can be done under proper guidance. You can also enjoy these sports even if you don’t know about swimming.

4. Barefoot walk at the beach:

When we talk about Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the only thing that comes to the people’s mind is the beach. You can also witness the process of Rubber plantation here. Wandoor is the beach where there are large rubber Plantations.

5. Visit the Cellular Jail:

There is a place named Cellular Jail in Andaman Island which is famous amongst the people around the world. This place is also known as “Kaala Paani”. This Jail is dedicated to the freedom fighters who were killed in the prison.

Another wonderful reason to visit this Jail is to witness a museum which is built inside the jail. There is a sound and light show which also is an attraction here. One can see the stories and struggles of the freedom fighters during this sound and light show.  The gate of the museum is open every day of the week except Saturdays and Mondays.

These are some activities which you can do at Andaman while having a visit to this beautiful place. I visited this place in 2018 and had an amazing experience. I visited the museums and in my opinion, the visit was worth visiting.
