Facilities


The accommodations of the hotels like that of the Private Garden Villa- has a comfortable living space alongside a private patio nursery space before the bungalow. Being an eco-resort, all the paper used at Spice Village is hand assembled. It is altogether made in-house at the paper making center. The best part is that visitors can attempt their hand at making their own sheets of paper. Alongside a paper center they have an organic farm, where a significant part of the organic product, plate of mixed greens and vegetables servedin day to day meal. The manures and fertilizer used on the farms are also made in house using the method of vermincomposting of vermincomposting.

The eatery here obliges Kerala food, intensely seasoned by neighborhood flavors. The culinary expert can furthermore make customary ancestral curries and Western dishes.

The Village hotel also offers numerous other facilities, including a conference hall and games room, complete with table tennis, caroms and chessboards, and a floodlit outdoor badminton court. The highlight, though, is the garden itself, bursting with a rich array of spice trees. The design of each cottage was inspired by the native tribesmen of periyar, the Oorali and Mannan, who lived in similar dwellings. In fact, one of the cottages currently being used as an office is an original tribal hut, which has been modified.

Safari option with spice village


The landscape of Periyar Tiger Reserve is a commix of tropical evergreen trees, damp deciduous trees and grasslands. To explore the tiger reserve, one can also go on a bullock cart ride through the ranches in neighboring Tamil Nadu which is also arranged by the village resort. In case you're a birdwatching lover, this is a decent chance to spot nearby birdlife
