Tour Overview

Ladakh, often called the Land of High Passes, is a realm of stark yet mesmerizing beauty, where rugged landscapes meet boundless skies. Its dramatic terrain, sculpted by time and elements, stretches across vast, wind-swept valleys, jagged mountain peaks, and shimmering blue lakes that reflect the ever-changing hues of the sky. The barren, moon-like landscapes are punctuated by ancient monasteries perched on craggy cliffs, their fluttering prayer flags adding bursts of color to the muted earth tones. In this high-altitude desert, silence reigns supreme, broken only by the whisper of the wind or the distant chants of monks. Ladakhs raw and untamed beauty is not just a feast for the eyes but a journey for the soul—one that speaks of resilience, tranquility, and the sheer grandeur of nature at its most sublime.

Hemis is dedicated to Padmasambhava; visitors can observe a series of scenes in which the lamas, robed in gowns of rich, brightly colored brocade and sporting masks sometimes bizarrely hideous, parade in solemn dance and mime around the huge flag pole in the center of the courtyard to the plaintive melody of the Shawn.

Shey was the ancient capital of Ladakh and even after Singge Namgyal built the more imposing palace at Leh, the kings continued to regard Shey as their real home. The importance attached to Shey is attested by the enormous number of Chorten about the village, particularly around the palace complex and barren plain to the north of the road.

Shanti Stupa is a Buddhist white-domed stupa on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh district, Ladakh, in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu, Gyomyo Nakamura and is part of the Peace Pagoda mission.
