of luck to spot all the four in the first visit, nevertheless, strolling through the dense forest is in itself a thrilling experience.
Bordering with Myanmar, the park is located between the Patkai range and the Dapha bum range of the Mishmi Hills with a wide altitudinal range between 200 m and 4571 m above the sea level. Interestingly, the vegetation scenario changes to temperate forests to Alpine meadows and perennial snow as the altitude goes higher from tropical moist forests to Montane forests.
In fact, apart from Namdapha, there's no other national park in the world which has a wider altitudinal variation and that's the reason why it is the habitat of such a diverse collection of flora and fauna.
Interestingly, this reserve area of Namdapha first came into notice to the international importance during the Second World War due to its rich biodiversity. The adjoining area, even today, serves to be the refugee camps for many immigrants till today.
International citizens require a restricted area permit that can be obtained from the home ministry in New Delhi.
Namdapha is surrounded by the eastern Himalayan ranges of Mishmi hills which is why it experiences a pleasant climate all through the year. Some peaks are snow-capped all through the year while the rest of them show a variation. The temperature during the winter months of November to February revolves around 15?C to 20?C. In the summer months, which are from March to October, it is around 27?C to 32?C.
From November to April, visitors can experience the most pleasant climatic conditions.
The diverse vegetations and climate of Namdaphasupports the habitation of diverse species of animals and birds. It is only park in the World to have the four Feline species of big cat in the same area. Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, and Snow Leopard (PantheraUncia) are spotted in this region. A number of primate species are also seen in the region, such as Assamese Macaque, stump-tailed Macaque, and pig-tailed Macaque. A large number of the distinctive Hoolock Gibbons, which are the rare and highly endangered and only 'Ape' species found in India dwells in this impenetrable dense forest. Of the many other important animals are the Indian Bison, Elephants, Black Bear, numerous species of Deer, reptiles and a variety of arboreal animals are some of the other mammals tourists can easily spot. Himalayan tahr, Wild buffalo, Wolves, Red panda, Red fox, Yellow-throated marten, Bharal, Slow Loris, CappedLangurs are the other significant animals.
Among the reptiles Reticulated Python, Indian Python, King Cobra, Monitor lizard are the significant ones.
