In the sane ashram of Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh, India around 1999 Yoga was introduced to the world in mass. Since then, The International Yoga Festival-Rishikesh has gained fame and admiration to which people and practitioners travel from all around the world. Initially, Yoga was conducted under the guidance of Pujya Shri Swami Veda Bharat Ji, but then the Yoga asanas were taught by Yogacharya Shri Bharat Bhushan Ji. It is when the word spread worldwide, the yoga gurus and saints came from different parts to share their knowledge of Yoga with the innumerable participants at the ashram.

Yoga:

It is the spiritual and meditative core which aligns the mental, physical and spiritual health to peace. In simple word, Yoga is the answer to the mind, body, and soul lining to cleanse the mind as well as body giving the physical fitness and wellbeing.

Yoga is regarded as one of the six orthodox schools of Hindu Traditions of Philosophy which are termed as the Astika Philosophies and traditions accepted and nurtured in Vedas as a key source of knowledge. It is the oldest science developed to preserve the health and wellness of beings. Yoga includes asanas (exercises) for the physical body and mediation for mental and spiritual fitness.

The International Yoga festival upholds the Indian legacy and keeps it alive and breathing. It is conducted for a period of 1 week alongside the Banks of holy River Ganges in the Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The festival includes various Yoga and meditative sessions over the course of 70 hours of rigorous workout.

The tentative schedule of events happens as follows:

  • 4 AM : The rising time and the start of first session of Yoga classes
  • 6:30 AM : Different sessions of 1-hour Yoga classes
  • 8:30 AM : 2-hour yoga sessions
  • 11 AM : Sat sang and spiritual talks by various gurus
  • Break
  • 11 AM : Sat sang and spiritual talks by various gurus
  • 6-7 PM : Attending aarti on the banks of River Ganga
  • 7 PM : Dinner
  • Cultural dance and singing followed by sat sang
  • 9:30 PM : Time to bed and rise early.
The Yoga is a blend of Asanas and meditation components which are likely as follows:
