The Lucknow Mahotsav is a 10- day annual festival which is has anextravagant cultural significance. The Lucknow Mahotsav displays the historic and traditional culture of the city. The festival hosts several play, musical and dance performances, Qawwali nights, processions and much more! Various famous celebrities also come and perform during the festival. The festival holds something for all kinds of people, the ones who love poetry; one who enjoys dance or music; foodies; and people who like watching plays.

It has cock fighting competitions, youth festival, ekka races, vintage car rally, kite flying, boat races and various traditional village games. Lucknow is known for its Nawabi delicacies and this festival brings together the delicious food varieties for its tourists. The various events, competitions and so much more, all in one place! This festival will surely be a heaven for all types and kinds of people.
Lucknow Mahotsav is organized by Lucknow District Administration and UP tourism. The young and budding craftsmen can also showcase their talents here or sell their crafts. The thriving festival is a cultural extravaganza indeed and there is nothing that this festival does not host. The royal and magnificent city leaves the tourists spellbound. One just cannot miss the Lucknow Mahotsav and the amazing talents and diversities that it brings together. The festival has over 200 stalls, 50 food stalls, 33 pavilions etc. Celebrities like Shirley Setia, Javed Ali, Pawan Singh and others have also performed in the Lucknow Mahotsav.
The festival generally happens around the end of December and ends after 10 days of commencement, that is around first week of January. The weather is perfect for enjoying the festival and one should take advantage of the same. It is held in SmritiUpvan Park, Bangla Bazaar.
The festival, as mentioned, hosts a variety of events ranging from Sufi nights, ghazals, folk music etc. The tourists visit Lucknow during this time to enjoy the cultural melange and get together of the amazing mix of several things. The tourists will surely enjoy and have fun as the events vary and does not focus on any one cultural aspect. Hence, the Lucknow Mahotsav entertains all kinds of people from various backgrounds and places. The historic and beautiful culture is also visible throughout the festival.
Many agricultural products are also sold here so that the peasants and farmers get a representation in the festival too. The small craftsmen also set up stalls for free of cost, to display their works and sell them. Craft work from over 20 different regions is also displayed in the Mahotsav. It also provides a stage for budding and young talents, who also can get a chance to perform along with mainstream artists.
The festival also does focus on Lucknawiculture, but also various aspects of Indian culture can be seen. There are Indo-Foreign Rock Night, Sufi Night, Bhojpuri Night, Bollywood Night, Punjabi Night and Mushairas so one will surely not be bored as they get all types of things in one place. There are so many things that is going on in the festival that is easy to get confused and overwhelmed, but it is definitely worth it as this type of cultural melange is hardly visible anywhere else in the world.
