Tour Overview

India is one of the most culturally diverse countries and has a lot to offer. The southern part of India has some of the most exquisite places that you just cannot miss, be it beaches, ancient temples or monuments, and other historical and archeological sites. Places like Kerala have several treasured locales that are cherished by both locals as well as tourists.

Calicut, also popularly known as Kozhikode, is one of the major cities in Kerala and is especially known for its spice variety, as it was a huge spice trade center. Calicut is filled with several attractions, including the beautiful Kozhikode Beach, which is an impeccable spot to enjoy the sunset. There is also the Mananchira Tank, the artificial pond in the Mananchira Square, mostly famous for its musical fountain. Interestingly, Kozhikode was the place where Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, landed back in the year of 1498 and opened a traveling route between Europe and Malabar. The city is also known for its several shopping spots and the annual music festival names Malabar Mahotsavam.

Wayanad is although a rural district but offers some of the greatest tourist experiences in Kerala. This includes it being home to the well known Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary that is the abode to some of the majestic animals, including tigers, leopards, and Asiatic elephants, as well as several birds. Soochipara Waterfalls are one of the most scenic and enjoyable places in Wayanad. There are also prehistoric Edakkal Caves with ancient petroglyphs and the lake along with the hiking trails by the Banasura Sagar Dam. For those with an adventurous bone in them, there is Kuruvadweep River, where you can indulge in activities like rafting.

Functioning as an ancient port once, the city of Kannur today has several old sites to bring out its rich history. Kannur, too, played a significant role in the spice trade, like Calicut. Monuments like the St. Angelo Fort that dates back to the 16th century, which used to be occupied by the European colonial forces, show that Kannur played an important role in trade during colonization. The sand adorned with tall Palm trees along the Payyambalam Beach is also a huge attraction, apart from the royal Arakkal Museum.

Also known as Palghat, Palakkad is a city in northern Kerala, known for its Palakkad Fort, Viswanatha Swamy Temple, and Malampuzha Dam, along with several other visit-worthy sites. The Palakkad Fort dates back to the 18th century and is also abode to a moat as well as a Hindu Hanuman temple.

Thrissur is the city in Kerala known for its holy and sacred locales, as well as several multihued and vibrant festivals. There are several places worth a visit, including the Thiruvambady Temple, which is home to several elephants, as well as the Sakthan Thampuran Palace, which also doubles as an archeological museum, showcasing several bronze statues and old coins. Smack dab in the center of the city is the holy Lord Shiva temple, called Vadakkumnathan Temple, embellished with several frescos.
