Hidden Treasures of Gujarat Luxury Train

You will begin the journey after boarding the Deccan Odyssey at the ChhatrapatiShivaji Terminus. Right after completing the registration, check-in, and other formalities, you will be ready to start the adventurous journey to the Hidden Treasures of Gujarat.

You will be given a warm traditional welcome with refreshing drinks while you are guided to your comfortable cabins. Your first stop will be at Mumbai to Vadodara. Dinner arrangements are done on board at the Deccan Odyssey along with the overnight stay.

The next morning you will be served a fresh breakfast on board while the Deccan Odyssey takes you to the capital of Gaekwad, Vadodara located near Vishwamitri.

The first half of the day is planned to let you explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park. This place is full of tradition and history. You will be able to explore the mesmerizing beauty of Jama Masjid which reflects the astonishing structure of Hindu-Muslim architecture.

Before you begin the journey in the second half of the day, you will be served lunch on board at the Deccan Odyssey. Post-lunch, you will be taken for your tour to the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum. This place served as a school for Maharaja’s children but now is a place for art display, like the collection of Raja Ravi Varma’s paintings, the sculptures of bronze and marble.

You will also stop by at a local city palace to enjoy high tea. You can enjoy the extraordinary beauty of the place while you witness a folk performance and sip on your tea concluding the lovely evening. Dinner and overnight stay are arranged at the Deccan Odyssey.

The next morning you will reach Palitana, which has the largest temple complexes in the world. After completing breakfast on board, you will be taken to explore the impressive cluster of 900 Jain temples. You will spend the entire day exploring this pilgrimage which is a significant spot for the Jains.

After you are done seeing with the Jain Tirthankars, you will be taken back to the Deccan Odyssey for a savoring lunch. The train will move towards SasanGir where you will be able to see Asiatic lions.

You can enjoy the rest of the late afternoon in the Deccan Odyssey peacefully by looking at the scenic beauty through its window. You can play indoor games or go for a spa onboard. Your dinner will be served on board along with the overnight stay. Relax and recharge by enjoying the rural view through the window.

You will start up early in the morning and after taking the breakfast on board, you will be taken to SasanGir by car to explore the Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary.

The guide can drive you to the forest for sighting the amazing Asiatic lion and absorb the wildlife of the location. If you enjoy exploring the raw nature then you are going to love this place. you will be spellbound by different species of birds, crocodiles and other wild species.

You will be taken to the local hotel to enjoy a delicious lunch and tribal dance as refreshments. After enjoying your time around the wild surrounding, you will return to the Deccan Odyssey to rest for the night. Dinner, refreshments, and your overnight stay is arranged onboard before you reach Rann of Kutch the next morning.

You will be served an early breakfast on board and will be taken to the Viramgam section from where you will disembark to discover the Little Rann of Kutch in a jeep. This place has a beauty of its own which is spread over 7500 sq.km. It’s a saline desert that will astonish you. Another interesting thing about this place is that you will be able to spot the few species that live here since there is no vegetation or greenery to hide behind.

The Wild Ass Sanctuary is one of the places to spot the ghudkar or India wild ass. After you have completely explored the place, lunch will be served at the local Rann Retreat. You can enjoy the food and take a walk later on to see Marwari and Kathiawari horses. You will also enjoy visiting the natives Rabari, who call Rann their home; and Aagarias who are engaged in salt panning as an occupation. You will have a wonderful time interacting with the locals and children.

After a satisfying visit to the Little Rann of Kutch, you will be driven back to the Deccan Odyssey for dinner and overnight stay while the train head towards Patan.

Patan was known as the capital of Gujarat in medieval times. After early morning breakfast on board, you will head out to drive to see the Sun Temple at Modhera. This temple was built by the Solanki dynasty and the beautiful sandstone monuments are solely dedicated to the Sun God. You will be amazed to find the 108 shrines that will lead you down to the water.

After the visit to the Sun Temple, you will move towards an 11th-century old stepwell called Rani kiVav. As you make your way to this subterranean well architecture, you will be amazed to spot the subtle carvings and statues of Parvati, Shiva, Vishnu and other gods engraved into its sidewalls. You shouldn’t miss visiting the Patola house which is the center of the Salvi family’s traditions.

You will be taken back to the Deccan Odyssey to enjoy a calming lunch; the afternoon is at leisure as the train continues towards Nashik. The sunset view out of the window will mesmerize you while you enjoy your tea. Dinner and overnight stay are arranged on board.

Nashik is rapidly earning a name to be the wine capital of India for all the right reasons. After enjoying a peaceful breakfast on board and enjoying the early afternoon time for leisure, you will be driven to the Grover Zampa vineyards to explore and taste the exclusive wine facilities of that place. You can witness the traditional way of preparing the best sparkling wines in India.

After a satisfying exposure to the vineyards, you can take a walk along the Godavari Ghats and catch a glimpse of the Hindu rituals being performed. You will drive back to the Deccan Odyssey for steaming dinner and overnight stay. You can prepare and pack for your departure for the next day as the train makes its way to Mumbai.
