Indian Odyssey Luxury train tour

The journey will start after boarding the Deccan Odyssey train at Delhi to Sawai Madhopur. You will be welcomed at the railway station itself. After the check-in and completing other formalities, you will receive a traditional Indian welcome along with refreshing drinks. You will be escorted to your comfortable cabins to settle in.

On reaching Sawai Madhopur, you can enjoy an early morning breakfast and head towards morning game drive. Since your first stop is Ranthambore National Park, you can enjoy the view which is home to several species including Chital, Tigers, Sambar deer, Wild boars and many others. It’s fairly easy to explore these animals and even birds like quails, crested serpent eagle, woodpeckers, flycatchers, and others.

After experiencing the wildlife if Ranthambore Park you will be guided back to the Deccan Odyssey to enjoy a delicious lunch.

Sometime after lunch and a power nap, you will be headed to a quaint village for more adventure. People are of jolly nature and will happily show you around the village and its traditions. You will find most of the people living in mud huts and women dressed traditionally in vibrant colors. You will be taken to a local lodge to enjoy high tea and the exceptional traditions of Jaipur.

Dinner and overnight arrangements are done at the Deccan Odyssey; you can relax after dinner while the train takes you to Agra for exploring the world-famous ‘Taj Mahal’.

After arriving at Agra and having breakfast on board, you will be taken to explore the magnificent Taj Mahal which was a gift to Mumtaz by Emperor Shah Jahan. This monument is one of the seven wonders of the world and took 22 years to build.

After an elaborate tour, you will be taken out for lunch at a hotel in Agra. After Which the second half of the journey in Agra continues.

You will be taken to Itmad-ud-Daulah which a marble mausoleum built by Nur Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir in the memory of her father Ghiyas Beg. It is also sometimes called ‘Baby Taj’ due to the similarity in structure. The second visit will be to Agra Fort which is again a very famous example of Mughal architecture. Later on, at the time of Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb, they added a beautiful marble private quarter, mosque, and outer ramparts. You shouldn’t miss a visit to the Diwan-e-Am.

Later you can visit the local market to shop or explore the beauty of artifacts and Mughal ornaments.

After the tour in the evening, you will be returned to the Deccan Odyssey for dinner and overnight stay to recharge for your journey ahead to Jaipur, The Pink City.

On reaching the pink city and finishing your breakfast on board, you will be taken to explore Jaipur. This city has an ancient history of royalty and splendor,Jaipur is said to look like an oasis surrounded by deserts. You will be taken straight to visit the Maharaja Mansingh’s 17th-century masterpiece, followed with Amber Fort. Sheesh Mahal, ‘Hall of Mirrors’ is a part of this beautiful view which will mesmerize you.

To stir the excitement, you will also be taken to see the Hawa Mahal en-route to Amber fort. After which you will visit the incredible City palace of Jaipur which has beautifully carved doors, decorative art, and rare manuscripts to astonish you. Experience the amazement of Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th Century.

In the middle of your journey you will be taken to a city hotel for lunch and after the trip back to the Deccan Odyssey for dinner and overnight stay.

Your next morning will start with gobbling delicious breakfast by the window where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Aravali hills. The Deccan Odyssey will move into Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes. Morning time is at leisure, so you can spend however you like. After an early lunch, you may leave to explore the City Palace. It has a lot to offer, like fretted balconies, scalloped arches, and cupolas which has spectacular Crystal Gallery. You will conclude the trip with an amazing boat cruise on Lake Pichola.

In the later half of the day, you will be left to explore the Old City of Udaipur by walking through the beautiful bazaar and colorful shops. You can buy, admire and shoot in this part of the city to take back beautiful memories. After you are done exploring the local places, you will be taken back to the Deccan Odyssey to rest for the evening. The dinner and overnight stay are arranged onboard after which it will depart for Vadodara.

The next morning you will arrive at Vadodara, which is the capital of Gaekwads. The breakfast is arranged onboard, after which you will leave for the city to visit Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park. It is known as the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is cradled in a perfect landscape around historic and cultural heritage. You will also see Jama Masjid (Great Mosque), which is a perfect blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Lunch is arranged at the Deccan Odyssey where you can drive back, along with a high tea at a local palace. Overnight stay and dinner is arranged onboard at the Deccan Odyssey.

Your next destination will be Aurangabad which is named after Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. This city also has in store for you a World Heritage Site which is Ellora Caves. The morning is at leisure after enjoying breakfast spread, and some additional activities available onboard, you will be served lunch. Soon on arrival to Aurangabad, you are driven to Ellora Caves which is only 30km away from the city.

You will be mesmerized by the beauty these temples radiate with. The place is surrounded by 12 Buddhist caves to the south, 17 Hindu centre, 5 Jain caves to the north, and the most famous and remarkable is the Abode of Shiva, that is the Kailash temple.

After absorbing the spiritual air and enjoying the breathtaking view, you will be returned to the Deccan Odyssey. Enjoy a delicious dinner and overnight stay on board.
