Snow leopards are the most unusual animal anyone has heard of. Back in the old times, it was difficult to spot these beautiful creatures named as, snow leopards. But not anymore, with the rise in technology and tourism, the tracking of snow leopards has become the most invigorating and adventurous holidays task to experience in Indian Himalayas. In this wildlife trip to Ladakh, you will get a chance to explore Tarlung, Hysing, and Karlung valleys inside the Hemis High Altitude National Park which is known to have the highest population of snow leopards. This trip will also take you to Ullay valley, where you can spot some more snow leopards. The activity of finding these elusive cats is done mostly at night.

In order to spot these fierce animals, you need to have a fairly good fitness level because walking in cold temperature at high altitude can be quite challenging for some people. The best time to find snow leopards is during the month of November to March when the entire region is snow-capped, and these vicious animals come out to prey on blue sheep, marco polo sheep, and Asiatic ibex. You will be accompanied by some local people of the region as guides to help you to track down these snow leopards more easily.

Day 01 Delhi - arrival

On your arrival in Delhi, you will be transferred to your hotel by our representative. You will be accompanied by a zoologist escort who will brief you about the tour. This day is free for you to relax and you can indulge in some leisure activities. You can refresh yourself to begin for a thrilling vacation.

Day 02 Delhi - Leh

In the morning, you will be taken to the airport to board a flight for Leh. Welcome to the Buddhist state of Ladakh. Here, you will be welcomed by a local guide and will be transferred to your hotel which is going to be your accommodation for the next three days. Today, you can explore the beautiful town of Leh with your zoological escort who will guide you to explore better.

Day 03 Leh - sightseeing

Today will be the day for you to prepare yourself for the trek. You will be taken to the local market for sightseeing and gather foodstuff for the trek. This day is mainly to prepare you to adapt to the climate of high altitudes so that you do not go through any illness during the journey. You can visit the Leh Palace, Victory Peak, and a couple of Buddhist Stupas to pass you time. These genius pieces of architecture encircle hillsides. In the afternoon, you will be taken to She Marshes, which is an hour’s drive from Leh. It is a great birding site where you can find some exotic species of birds.

Day 04 Leh - sightseeing

Today you will start discovering some marks of the snow leopards like occasional prints, snow leopard faeces. You will be accompanied by your local guide and your zoological escort who will provide you with some breathtaking information about the rising uplands. Keep yourself ready to spot the snow leopard at any moment as you are in the region of these camouflaging cats. Throughout the journey, you will be continuously reminded about the wild nature of these snow leopards and your guide will repeatedly notify you with the different features of these animals. After reaching your camps, you can unpack your luggage and relax after the long and tiring walk. Day 14 Hemmis National Park - trekking and snow leopard tracking

Today after breakfast we will trek back to the entrance of the park. During our trek, we will continue to spot snow leopards. This day we will drive back to Leh and during our journey, we will find some endemic Ladakhi Urail which is a large reddish colored sheep. On your arrival in Leh, you will be transferred back to the same hotel where you can relax after the long and tedious trek.

Day 15 Leh - Delhi

In the morning, we will arrange a smooth ride for you to the airport where you can catch a flight to Delhi. On your arrival in Delhi, you will be taken to your hotel so that you can relax and get used to the busy schedule after diving into the wilderness of hillsides.

Day 16 Delhi

This day is free for you to indulge in some leisure activities in the city. You can visit some major tourist attractions of Delhi or just relax in your hotel and de-stress yourself. You can visit the local markets and buy stuff as these markets are humongous, offering some amazing and good quality products at a very low price. You can visit the old and new Delhi.

Day 17 Depart Delhi

Post breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport to catch a flight for your home destination.
