After having your breakfast, visit Dhurrie Weaving in Jodhpur which is in Salawas area. Salawas is in the
outskirts of Jodhpur. There are many varieties and the most famous one are: Interlock and camel wool
dhurries. Four types of materials these dhurries are made up of are silk, wool, jute and cotton. The materials
is first converted into thread and then woven into dhurries. Rajasthan dhurries which are made at Salawas
are also known as Ranja Dhurries and these dhurries are exported at a good scale.
These dhurries are use according to its material, size and design.
The smallest one which is of size 12" by 12" is used as a table cover, can be used for telephone stands and
flower vases. They are also made for doing meditation which come in sizes 24" by 24". Dhurrie can be used
for packing or bedding, not only as a floor covering. They come in different color combinations and patterns
as per the taste or occasion. One of the good quality is, they do not get infected by insects which damaged
carpets.
