After breakfast in the morning, leave for Agra by road and check into a hotel on arrival. Subsequently, set off for the magnificent Taj Mahal. Stroll through the gardens, near the clear pools and fountains, along the pathway upto the building itself where the late king Shah Jahan lies along with his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The crafted beauty of the Mahal with its intricate carvings and delicate calligraphy patterns, and the glinting stones is a marvelous sight to behold.
Along with the breathtakingly beautiful monument of Taj Mahal, a little distance away, you can also explore the Agra Fort. Situated near the gardens of the Taj Mahal, is the magnificent Mughal monument with its striking red brick walls encircling an imperial Mughal city. Its palaces and chambers take you back to an ancient storyland, or the times of kings and princesses, gallant knights and wise men. There is the Jahangir Palace, which, among all of the mughal architecture found in Agra, perhaps is one of the most important one. It is also known as the Rani Mahal, and is an elegant masterpiece built by the Emperor Akbar for his son Jahangir. This is the biggest residential building in the Agra Fort.
The Agra Fort also consists of other splendid monuments like the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan, public places like the Diwan-e-Khas where, like the name suggests, the emperor would welcome important guests and kings, hold cultural events and meetings to deal with matters of the state. There are also two very beautiful mosques.
