Tour Overview

Many describe the Taj Mahal as one of the most marvelous medieval structures present in India. It is popularly known as an emblem of love that Shah Jahan had for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is reputed for being one of the best buildings in the entire field of Indo-Islamic architecture. Its famed architectural beauty has a poetic combination of light and shadow, arches and domes, that each contribute to its regal aesthetics. The lush green landscape contrasts the red path that runs in the middle, and a brilliant blue sky overhead seems to change the mood of the monument during different times of the day. The sight, along with several other monuments surrounding it, have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In addition to historical relevance and beauty, the Taj Mahal is also close to natural reserves and wildlife parks in the area. One of the most popular ones, the Bandhavgarh National Park in Umaria is famed for its wildlife diversity, and large population of tigers. It is an unmissable attraction that makes every moment spent there worth it. This wildlife trip will surely bring you close to the two wonders of India ie Taj and Tiger.

Some popular attractions there are the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and Chandani Chowk. A enthralling rickshaw ride through the buzzing and vibrant streets of the Chandani Chowk is an unforgettable experience. Delhi also has a wide range of other historical tourist attractions including Rashtrapati Bhawan - the official home of the president of India, Qutub Minar - a medieval monument initially built by the king Qutub ud din Aibak, and completed by his son in law Iltutmish, The Lotus Temple, India Gate, and finally the Mughal emperor Humayun’s Tomb.

Day 03 Delhi - Agra

After breakfast in the morning, leave for Agra by road and check into a hotel on arrival. Subsequently, set off for the magnificent Taj Mahal. Stroll through the gardens, near the clear pools and fountains, along the pathway upto the building itself where the late king Shah Jahan lies along with his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The crafted beauty of the Mahal with its intricate carvings and delicate calligraphy patterns, and the glinting stones is a marvelous sight to behold.

Along with the breathtakingly beautiful monument of Taj Mahal, a little distance away, you can also explore the Agra Fort. Situated near the gardens of the Taj Mahal, is the magnificent Mughal monument with its striking red brick walls encircling an imperial Mughal city. Its palaces and chambers take you back to an ancient storyland, or the times of kings and princesses, gallant knights and wise men. There is the Jahangir Palace, which, among all of the mughal architecture found in Agra, perhaps is one of the most important one. It is also known as the Rani Mahal, and is an elegant masterpiece built by the Emperor Akbar for his son Jahangir. This is the biggest residential building in the Agra Fort.

The Agra Fort also consists of other splendid monuments like the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan, public places like the Diwan-e-Khas where, like the name suggests, the emperor would welcome important guests and kings, hold cultural events and meetings to deal with matters of the state. There are also two very beautiful mosques.

Day 04 Agra to Umaria by overnight train

After the glorious sights of the Taj and its adjoining monuments, you may spend the next morning relaxing in the hotel, or revisit the splendorous buildings again. A morning view of the Taj Mahal is truly a sight to behold. The ethereal sunrise and the gradual brightening of the sky, as the fog fades is a wondrous experience, and also a time when the crowds are less. Towards the evening, depart from Agra to Umaria, preferably through the connecting train from the Railway Station. It is an overnight journey from Agra to Umaria, and you should reach your destination the following morning.

Day 05 Umaria - Bandhavgarh

pon arriving the following morning in Umaria, take a short relaxing and picturesque road trip to Bandhavgarh. The Bandhavgarh National Park is stretched across the Vindhya ranges in Madhya Pradesh, in Central India. After lunch in the afternoon set off to experience the enjoyable safari park.

Famous for having the highest density of tiger population known in India, it was once a hunting ground for the Maharajas of Rewa. The park with its large biodiversity, also has a large breeding population of leopards and many species of deer. It is said Maharaja Martand Singh of Rewa caught the first white tiger in this region back in 1951. The tiger is now on display in the Maharaja’s palace. However, there are mining activities around the park that are putting the tigers at risk.Spend the night at the resort at Bandhavgarh.

Day 06 Bandhavgarh

On the sixth day, spend your time entirely at the safari in the tiger reserve. The tiger reserve is a beautiful lush green place, ideal for game viewing in the safari ride. The park offers two types of safari rides - Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari. The jeep ride is more easily available and popular but the elephant safari, despite being difficult to book, is an experience in itself. Safari jeeps are restricted to moving through the safari tracks and cannot go through dense bushes and forest areas. The jeeps also tend to scare wild animals, making the natural sightseeing experience of the safari difficult. The elephant safari however, allows you to go through dense jungles and near the wild animals you want to see. The Butter Tree in the Bandhavgarh jungle tends to attract a lot of herbivores and omnivores in the forest. Among them there are the Blue bulls, sloth bears, deer, Languar monkeys, and sambars. Overnight at the resort at Bandhavgarh.

Day 07 Bandhavgarh

The safari and expeditions through the tiger reserve is an experience you can’t complete in just two days, which is why it is recommended to spend at least three days at the resort. There is also the historic Bandhavgarh Fort, situated on top of the Bandhavgarh hill, and encircled with sloping hilltops and small valleys. The hills slope down to the “Bohera” which is a watery meadow at the bottom of the hills. Spend the night at the resort at Bandhavgarh.

Day 08 Bandhavgarh

Spend the eighth day as well at the Tiger Reserve, with another early morning or evening safari. This is will be your final night at the resort in Bandhavgarh. Overnight at the resort at Bandhavgarh.

Day 09 Bandhavgarh - Umaria - Delhi

After you have gotten enough of the regal tigers prowling through the jungle, and the majestic elephants, the chirping birds, the spotted deer, and the various other jungle animals, return to the resort to relax. Towards sunset, board the train to Delhi. Umaria to Delhi is an overnight journey.

Day 10 Depart Delhi
