Recently, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri made an announcement that Air India will start Amritsar – Delhi – Toronto flight from 27 September 2019. The flight will commence on the occasion of World Tourism Day. The flight will operate thrice a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The flights will enhance the air connectivity between Amritsar and Toronto – a long pending demand of people of Punjab, especially of Doaba region. Speaking on the event of the announcement, R K Negi, manager of Air India, Punjab said, “Our flights will cater to the emerging needs of Punjab people who have been demanding the start of a direct flight to Toronto from Amritsar. Moreover, the frequency of the flights can be increased depending upon the response of the people.”

While sharing the news on Twitter, Hardeep Singh said, “I am glad I was able to help in fulfilling this long pending demand of citizens of Guru Nagri & devotees who travel from North Americas to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiyana Mandir & other holy places.”

By making a return to Canada with the operation of Amritsar – Delhi – Toronto flight, Air India will give some competition to Air Canada.
