The Garden Tourism Festival is a three-day festival held every year in the month of February. It displays a vivacious arrangement of flowers that can be enjoyed by any passer-by. Flowers of different varieties adorn the garden with their vibrant hues and look like a sprinkle of colour in a city otherwise prone to looking like an urban jungle. Around 15,000 plants, including roses, dahlias, potted plants, different types of bonsais, and more than a thousand varieties of chrysanthemum and ikebana, are exhibited at this event. There are also different shrubs and plants showcased at this event. The scale and diversity of flora showcased at this event are one of the greatest in all of India.
The cultural activities at this festival make it much more engaging and inviting to people. People can enjoy the magic shows, and savour the authentic flavours of Delhi’s lip-smacking cuisine. Art captures the essence of beauty in everyday life, in the things that we fail to notice as we are too used to them. In this spirit, painting competitions for kids are held to make sure they connect to the festival, and art camps for young artists are organised to give them a space to interact with other people of similar interests. The festival also has the programme, ‘Kavi Sammelan’ that provides a platform for young writers to present their compositions. These cultural activities bring people together. Tourists can take in the creative talent of the youngsters, while also contemplating natural beauty.
