Of all the places in Rajasthan, Jodhpur comes second after Jaipur in terms of beauty and historical significance. The city was founded by RaoJodha, who established the city back in the mid-1400s and is also referred to as Sun City or the Blue City. Jodhpur served as the capital of the Marwar kingdom.
The first destination in the city is the Meherangarh Fort, known to be one of the largest and one of the most menacing of all the forts in India. This large fort is located on a low sandstone hill, which is only 120 meters tall. Furthermore, the thick walls of the fort house many palaces in inside. We will help you explore all of the palaces, but the most notable of these is the Moti Mahal, built by Raja Sur Singh, which is beautiful in every aspect. Next, we will help you visit Phool Mahal or the Palace of Flowers, the chamber of pleasures built by Maharaja Abhaya Singh.
Next, we will take you to Jaswant Thada, which was built by Sardar Singh in 1889, in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The place is made of well-polished marble sheets and dazzles when sunlight falls on it. Next on the list for visiting Umaid Public Gardens, which houses the Government Museum and the Umaid Bhawan Museum; and was designed by Henry Vaughan Lanchester.
