Day 01 01 Arrive in Chennai

When you arrive in Chennai, you will be first taken to your hotel. Your holiday of South India would kick off from Chennai. You will have the day off, and you can either rest in your hotel room or take a stroll around the nearby markets. Chennai is home to several beautiful museums and numerous places of interest. You will spend the night at your hotel in Chennai.

Day 02 Chennai to Kanchipuram to Tiruvannamalai by road. Sightseeing of Kanchipuram (213 km)

You will begin your sightseeing programme from today. You will be taken to Kanchipuram by road. During your excursion in Kanchipuram, you will encounter a few known temples, like the Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple, the Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple, Sri Kailasanathar Temple, Ekambareswarar temple, and the Shiva temple. If you are interested in buying sarees, then you can purchase some beautiful Kanchipuram silk and sarees. After your tour of Kanchipuram, you will proceed to Tiruvannamalai. You will stay overnight in Tiruvannamalai.

Day 03 Tiruvannamalai to Gingee and return. Sightseeing of Gingee (80km)

Today you will make a trip to Gingee. You will be marveled at the indomitability of the fortress Gingee fort. You can later return to your hotel and take the rest of the day off, and prepare for the sightseeing of Tiruvannamalai, scheduled for the next day. You will spend your night at the hotel in Tiruvannamalai.

Day 04 Sightseeing of Tiruvannamalai. Later drive to Yercaud (146km)

You will visit Tiruvannamalai in the morning. You will be driven to the Annamalaiyar Temple where you can explore the temple and discover the architectural magnificence of ancient India. After you have done the sightseeing in and around the Annamalaiyar Temple, you will head back to your hotel. You will be driven to Yercaud later in the day, and spend the night at Yercaud.

Day 05 Sightseeing of Yercaud

The fifth day of your Tamil Nadu Religious tour includes your tour of Yercaud, which is popular among the tourists for its scenic beauty and natural charm. You will visit the National Orchidarium and Botanical Garden which is home to about three thousand trees and eighteen hundred shrubs. The wildlife at the Botanical Garden is just as appealing as the vegetation around this area. Bison, deer, rabbits, foxes, mongooses, and squirrels can easily be seen here. You will later visit Pagoda Point. You can spend the afternoon at leisure, or visit the other nearby areas. You will spend the night at Yercaud.

Day 06 Yercaud to Tiruchirapalli by road. Sightseeing of Tiruchirapalli (170 km)

In the morning, you will be driven to Tiruchirapalli. You will visit the Rock Fort and the Danish Church. You will spend the discovering these two places and exploring the architectural expertise of ancient kingdoms. Later, you will drive back to your hotel in Tiruchirapalli, where you will stay put till the next morning

Day 07 Tiruchirapalli to Kodaikanal by road (197 km)

In the morning, you will be taken from Tiruchirapalli to Kodaikanal. You can have the rest of the day off, and spend the day at leisure. There is a lot to see in Kodaikanal. The meadows, gardens, waterfalls, and cascading streams are excellent tourist attractions. You can stroll out in the evening and enjoy the greenery around this place. Pear, acacia, eucalyptus, and cypress trees add to the vegetational beauty of this place, which you will surely like if you are a nature lover. The Kodaikanal Lake is a great place to visit where you can hire bicycles, horses, and boats for recreational purposes. If you are a religious person, then visits to various sacred sites in the city will make your day. You will stay overnight in Kodaikanal, and resume your journey the next day for your sightseeing of the place.

Day 08 Kodaikanal

You will have an entire day at your disposal to visit Kodaikanal. You can visit the botanical garden and enjoy the variety of flora and fauna that exists at this place. The Shembaganur Museum of Natural History is another place that you can visit. It is home to a vast collection of taxidermies of hundreds of species of insects, birds, and animals. It also houses a significant collection of live exotic orchid species. A visit to the Green Valley will give you a beautiful view of the plains. Another place that you must visit is the Dolphin’s Nose, which is a flat rock projecting over a two thousand meter gorge. If you like adventure, then you can consider visiting the Bear Shola Falls which is a waterfall and requires a bit of climbing to be done. You will head back to your hotel and spend the night at Kodaikanal.

Day 09 Kodaikanal to Madurai by road. Sightseeing of Madurai (116 km)

Today you will be taken from Kodaikanal to Madurai, via road. Your Madurai tour will begin in the afternoon. In the meanwhile, you can have some rest after your long road trip. The afternoon tour of Madurai includes the Tripura Kundan Rock Temple, Alagar Hills, Tirumala Nayak Palace, and the Meenakshi Temple. You can go around these places and discover the magnificent architectures that are filled with magnificence and brilliance. You will stay overnight in Madurai.

Day 10 Madurai to Chettinad by road. Sightseeing of Chettinad

In the morning, you will be taken from Madurai to Chettinad region, which consists of numerous villages. You will have sufficient time to visit the villages in the Chettinad region. You can try the local cuisine, which is famous for its spice and aroma. You will also have the chance to discover the Chettinad mansions which have spacious rooms and vast courtyards and are built with marble and teak. You will also visit the Kandanur Sivan, Kundrakudi Murugan, Karpaga Vinayagar, and the Vairavan Kovil. You will return to your hotel and prepare for the journey ahead of you for the next day. You will stay overnight in Chettinad.

Day 11 Chettinad to Thanjavur by road. Sightseeing of Thanjavur

You will be driven to Thanjavur in the morning. You will be taken to the Brihadeeswarar Shiva Temple. The amalgamation of the Indian and Egyptian architectural techniques at the temple will leave you pleasantly surprised. The paintings from different eras on the walls of the temple will further make your tour interesting.You will also be taken to the Thanjavur Maratha Palace, Raja Raja Chola art gallery which has a vast collection of stone and bronze idols, and the Saraswati Mahal Library which contains more than thirty thousand manuscripts written on the palm leaf and paper. You will return to your hotel after the sightseeing. You will stay overnight in Thanjavur.

Day 12 Thanjavur to Pondicherry by road (169 km)

You will be driven to Puducherry today. You will have the entire day to explore the city and go around for sightseeing. You will have the car at your disposal. The colonial buildings, churches, statues, and temples, all contribute to the beauty of the city, and you can feast your eyes on these structures of the colonial period. You can visit the Serenity Beach, Auroville Beach, Paradise Beach, and Promenade Beach. You will stay overnight in your hotel at Puducherry.

Day 13 Sightseeing of Puducherry

Today you will go around the city for sightseeing. You will see the French and Indian Quarters in Puducherry. The difference between these two quarters will be very conspicuous in the design of the buildings in these quarters. You will be taken to Sri Aurobindo Ashram. A visit to the Auroville Town will amaze you through the harmony that exists between the people from all nationalities that live here. Another place worth visiting is the Lord Ganesha Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple. After the sightseeing of the city, you will be driven to your hotel. You can spend the afternoon at leisure and have some rest after the long and arduous tour of the town. You will spend the night in Puducherry and resume your journey the next day.

Day 14 Puducherry to Mamallapuram by road. Sightseeing of Mamallapuram (97 km)

Today you will be driven from Puducherry to Mamallapuram via road. Your tour of the city will begin in the afternoon, and you can have some rest till then. Your afternoon tour of the city will take you through the cave temples and mandapams. You will be marveled at the carvings and the architecture you will witness at the cave temples. You will see the bas-relief of Arjuna’s Penance, and the five chariots that are carved out on one rock. Other than that, you will visit the Twin Structure of the Shore Temple, that is carved out on granite. You will stay overnight in Mamallapuram.

Day 15 Departure. Mahabalipuram to Chennai airport by road and departure (58 km)
