1. Pangong Lake:
Pangong Lake is a very beautiful lake which is situated 160 Km away from the city Leh. As the amount of salt in the water is high here, due to which there is no aquatic life but while visiting this lake, you can see ducks or gulls on the surface of the water.
My recommendation to visit this place would be in the month of June. Also, there are no entry fees to witness the beauty of this beautiful lake.
2. Magnetic Hill:
While traveling on the Leh – Kargil route to Ladakh, one will pass the popular Magnetic Hill. The distance between this place and Leh city is around 30 Km. This hill got this name because of the magnetic illusion. Here the downhill looks like an uphill. This is because of the magnetic illusion.
If you turn off your engine and leave your car in neutral gear, the car will automatically start moving uphill because of the magnetic pull. 3. Shanti Stupa:
If you want to spend some of your time in tranquility, then you must visit the Shanti Stupa. This place holds a great place in the culture of Buddhists. While visiting this place, you can also see the relics of Buddha which are stored in the base of the stupa.
The timings of the Shanti Stupa are from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM and also there are no entry fees to visit this place.
4. Leh Palace:
This place is also popular as the Leh Kingdom. If you are keen on knowing and understanding more on the beliefs of Buddhist culture, this place should definitely be on your list as the Leh Palace promotes the Buddhist culture.
The timings of this place are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and the entry fee is Rs. 15 for the Indians and Rs. 100 ($2) for the foreigners.
5. Alchi Monastery:
One of the most popular amongst the famous and frequently visited monasteries in Leh is the Alchi monastery. There are so many sacred walls at this place that have the paintings of numerous Hindu kings along with the Buddhist teachings.
The timings of this monastery are from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and there are no entry fees to visit this place.
