Best activities to experience in Coorg

Coorg is also famous as the “Scotland of India”. This is because of its undulating green hills and brilliant blue sky. One can find any kind of activity to enjoy in Coorg. Here in this blog, I will tell you some best things which you can enjoy while visiting Coorg.

1. Experience the Tibetan Culture in Golden Temple, Coorg

There are many temples in Coorg, but this one is especially lovely. The Namdroling Monastery, which is also popular as the Golden Temple in Tibetan, is a stunning Tibetan monastery. It’s a fantastic way to acquaint your kids with a new culture. Tibetan food such as thukpa and momos can also be found in the nearby stalls!

A visit to Bylakuppe should be on the top of your list as the experience of being there can not be expressed in words. No money is needed to enjoy the visit here. This place is popular amongst the locals for its daily prayers. In Southern India, you can find Tibetan culture only in Coorg.

2. Click pictures at Abbey falls

Abbey Falls, also known as Abbi Falls and situated near Madikeri, is a great place to visit in Coorg not just for nature lovers but also for photographers. The sight of water cascading down from a 70-foot cliff surrounded by dense greenery is a sight that can capture everyone’s eye.

The average cost to visit this place is INR 15 per person. This place is especially famous for Hiking.

3. Dubare Elephant Camp – Bathe Elephant

The most enjoyable thing in Coorg is playing around and caring for elephants. The elephant camp in Dubare, one of Coorg’s popular tourist destinations, has a large group of elephants. You can bathe, feed and ride here. This is the best thing to do in Coorg in the month of May, thanks to its location on the riverbank.

The location of this camp is Kushalnagar, Coorg District, Nanjarayapatna.

4. Trekking

Coorg is surrounded by the lush Western Ghats, which provide ample hiking and trekking opportunities. Mullayanagiri, Tadiandamol ,Kodachadri, Brahmagiri and Kumara Parvatha are some of these treks.

Trekking is particularly enjoyable in the winter when the forests are parched but verdant. This is why it is one of the famous Coorg activities in December.

In 2019, I visited Coorg with my family and I will always cherish the moments of that trip. I visited Namdroling Monastery and I enjoyed my visit. There are many things to experience in this beautiful town, but I listed some of them that you can experience.
