Must visit cities in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is an island country off the southeastern coast of India in the Indian Ocean. Approximately 20 million habitants are present in this country. Natural resources abound on the island, which supports a vibrant economy dependent on agriculture, fishing, mining, tourism and manufacturing.

Through this blog, I will give you some information about must-visit cities in Sri Lanka.

1. Kandy:

Kandy, widely regarded as the country’s cultural centre, is a beautiful place to visit. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic are two of the city’s most famous attractions. The Esala Perahera Festival is a must-see if you’re spending your time in Kandy in July or August.

2. Colombo:

Colombo, the country’s capital, is a lovely city with a tropical climate that welcomes visitors during the year. The Dutch Period Museum and the Natural History Museum would be enriching and exciting opportunities for history buffs.

You should also stop by the Turtle Conservation Villa to learn more about the importance of saving these beautiful marine creatures. The city has a diverse variety of architectural styles. Amongst them, the Murugan Hindu temple is considered to be one of the primes.

3. Sigiriya:

Sigiriya, an ancient fortress overlooking lush forests, is located in the central Matale district. The name ‘Lion Rock’ comes from the giant sculpted lion paws that greet visitors at the entrance.

A visit to this location will let you see King Kasyapa’s 1600-year-old Sigiriya Fortress. It was previously King Kasyapa’s private residence and is now one of Sri Lanka’s most popular tourist destinations. If you are interested in ancient sites, it will be a great tourist destination for you in Sri Lanka.

4. Nuwara Eliya:

It’s no surprise that Nuwara Eliya has gained the nickname “Little England” because of its groomed gardens, colonial-era architecture, and mild temperature. The picture is completed by immaculate golf courses and a beautiful post office.

Nuwara Eliya is a fascinating spot to visit because of its distinct feel and appearance; the surrounding region is home to some spectacular mountains and waterfalls.

5. Galle:

 Galle is steeped in history and one of the country’s most magnificent cities, with gorgeous mosques and churches nestled amongst exquisite colonial-era villas, excellent museums, and a decaying fort.

 Galle, Sri Lanka’s fifth-largest city is filled with temples, gorgeous cathedrals, and incredible beauty. Try to visit the Seenigama temple. Also visit the Galle Lighthouse which is situated inside the walls of the ancient Galle Fort, a Site that gives stunning views of this tropical sanctuary.
