If you are bored of visiting the crowded streets of the cities and need a break and want to explore  the mountains where you can rejuvenate yourself and feel tranquil then you must know that India is gifted with so many beautiful mountains, amazing places , dense forests which are perfect for your next hillside holiday. I love everything about the mountains because one has the opportunity to do activities like trekking , fishing or camping or if you are in search of some spiritual experience then you can visit the temples , churches etc. Just imagine waking up and being able to see the mesmerizing view of the mountains. You can visit these mountains at any time of the year. You can visit during the winter season when the atmosphere is chilly with cold breezes or according to me the most ideal time to visit these hills are the summer months when other places are very hot and at this time a visit to mountains is the best option to refresh and relax. Now i am going to give you all information about the best mountain places of India and will also share my travelling experience with you .

Manali

Manali is located in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Manali is India’s most famous hill station and also a fabulous honeymoon destination for couples . Manali suits the needs of every traveler . You can spend great quality time with your family or go for adventure activities or just relish some romantic time with your partner . It is a great place for backpackers too. Manali is blessed with so much natural beauty and breathtaking views that everybody wants to visit here and spend the beautiful moments of their life here . I have been to Manali two times and I still can’t get over how pretty that place is . Manali has numerous options for adventure , shopping , food , hotels , sightseeing etc.  You can do adventure activities like trekking , rafting , zorbing etc and have a thrilling experience . Must see place in Manali is Solang Valley . It is a very popular tourist spot where you get the chance to do skiing or paragliding . It is a quiet place with pleasing surroundings. I did horse riding there . I was a little bit scared but at the end it was a nice experience. You should also visit Rohtang Pass. If you are an adventure lover or a photographer you will really love this location. There are also temples and markets where you can visit and see their culture. In old manali you can find small cafes and restaurants which serve delicious food. I totally recommend you to visit here . You can visit Shimla by air or by bus but according to me the best option is by road when you can admire its beauty along the way.

Leh Ladakh

Leh Ladakh is one of the most highest and beautiful when it comes to the mountain range. If you are a true wanderer then this has to be on your bucket list. It has gorgeous landscapes , lakes , colorful monasteries , food and so much more.I feel like it is a heaven for all mountain lovers including me . The things you should see here are Pangong Lake which is absolutely stunning and is the most peaceful place.  With such a jaw dropping view in front you will forget all about your worries and just want to enjoy that special moment . I think you can never ever forget that view because there is so much to adore and cherish . Also you can visit Nubra Valley , Hunder & Diskit or the Hemis monastery . This monastery also celebrates a famous Hemis festival in June which attracts many tourists from all over the world. You can see their amazing culture and tradition everywhere . I’ll give you advice that you must try the tibetan cuisine here because it’s their speciality . Also Leh has tibetan markets where you can buy lots of good stuff as a memory for your loved ones. This trip will give so much memories and will mark a permanent spot in your heart and mind.

Mcleodganj

It is an awesome destination with so many exciting things to do . It is home to Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama . So you will see vibrant tibetan markets , monasteries , little cafes  everywhere which makes it even more attractive. It is one of my favorite hill destinations in India as it is a nice place to learn , read, meditate , hiking and Yoga. The most famous tourist attractions here are Namgyal Monastery , Bhagsu falls and Mall road (Main street) where you can find so many restaurants and markets and the whole atmosphere of that area is so cool and vibrant . On my visit to Mcleodganj I daily went for a morning walk which was really great . You can feel fresh air and see so much greenery around you. I also attended a meditation class which made my trip even more special . I suggest you also take a yoga or a mediation class if you are in Mcleodganj as it will give you time to think and relax your body and mind . Also there is a Dal Lake little outside the town which you should visit . You can take a boat ride there too between the mountains. You can also visit Dharamshala Cricket stadium which is a very impressive place and a great spot for clicking pictures too. Plan your perfect getaway to Mcleodganj with your family.

Nainital

It is a very popular hill station also known as “Lake district of india” which is surrounded by mountains on three sides and offers a scenic view of Himalayan peaks. It has the most famous Naini Lake which is the best place to visit in Nainital. You can enjoy a boat ride which is the best activity to do here. Other top places to visit in Nainital include Naini Peak, Tiffin Top, Snow View point and Tibetan markets. You can do a lot of sightseeing here and also have the chance to do activities like River rafting , Rock climbing , trekking and horse riding. I tried river rafting and felt very good and it was one of the nicest experiences of that trip for me. I suggest you try and relish the Lip smacking local food as it has great flavours. The best part is it’s weather and in winters it becomes very cold and chilly so you can visit here at any time of the year and make the most of your trip.

Shimla

Shimla has snow covered mountains , lakes , cool markets , historical buildings, temples , pine forests and a very alluring nature view and that’s why it is known as “Queen of Hills” . Shimla is a very popular film shooting location which is admired by all the travelers. There are numerous places where you can visit during your trip like Christ Church , Viceregal Lodge , Jakhoo Hill and Mall Road (main street of Shimla). The Christ church is a must visit place in Shimla. It has an elegant architecture with a clock tower and glass windows which looks very stunning during  night time. I enjoyed roaming around the Mall Road where you get to see colonial buildings and cafes and can try shimla’s local food delicacies . You should try the dish called Dham (dish prepared with rice and lentils in yogurt). I went hiking to Jakhoo Hill with my family and visited the Jakhoo temple of Lord Hanuman and from there we enjoyed the magnificent view of the Shivalik mountain range. You must take a ride in a toy train as well. It will be a very enjoyable journey . The best time to visit Shimla is from March till June when the weather is at its best and it is comfortable to do all the sightseeing but if you want to witness the snowfall then you should visit in winters and don’t forget to carry woolen clothes and jackets at that time.

These are some of the best mountain places in India with amazing attractions and different activities to do that will make your trip worth remembering 🙂
