Diwali or Deepawali is a Hindu festival. The duration of this festival is usually five days and it is celebrated during the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika (between mid-October – mid –November). It is a festival of light. This festival comes after 21 days of the festival – Dussherra.

It is meant to symbolize the spiritual victory of good over evil. After to Hindu religion, it is said that on the day of Diwali, Lord Rama came back to his hometown Ayodhya with his wife and brother and on this occasion, every person of Ayodhaya was so happy. On the return of Lord, Home, Shops, temples are all brightly lit up. In this blog, I will tell you some best places where you can celebrate Diwali in India.

1. Udaipur:

Udaipur is a city in the northern state named Rajasthan. Udaipur – “The city of Lakes” is a good choice to spend your Diwali. You can visit Mahalaxmi temple or also you can enjoy the Udaipur Lantern festival where you can enjoy many performances of famous singers, you can also try mouthwatering food at stalls, can enjoy fun activities and many more.

2. Kolkata:

Kolkata is a city in the state named West Bengal. At the auspicious occasion of Diwali, every person worships the goddess Laxmi but in Kolkata, they worship the goddess Kaali. The city gets nicely illuminated by the lights. The markets are fully decorated. The famous Kali temple is decorated beautifully. If you are visiting Kolkata at the time of Diwali, then I recommend you to visit the biggest shrine at the Kalighat Temple.

Jaipur is a city in the northern state named Rajasthan. This city is known as “The Pink City”. During the Diwali festival, the city is fully decorated with the lights and lamps. 4. Goa:

Goa is also the best place in India to spend Diwali. Here the people make a dummy of Demon which is filled with fire crackers. The day before the main festival of Diwali, they burn that demon. Here the main focus is on the annihilation of the demon Narakasura by the lord Krishna.

5. Varanasi:

Varanasi is one of the most holy cities of India. In this city, Diwali is celebrated with great joy. The people are very excited for this festival throughout the year. Loud sounds of firecrackers in the street of Varanasi is enough to tell you the excitement level of the people of this city. You can also enjoy the amazing view of special “Ganga Aarti” at the shore of river Ganges where the ghats are enlightened and diyas are floated in the river Ganges.

So here are some cities where you can spend Diwali in India. Last year, I visited Jaipur at the time of Diwali and I enjoyed it a lot. The city was fully decorated and was enlightened up with numerous lights and diyas.
